Start your full-day bus trip to Meteora with your guide from Athens. Explore this UNESCO world heritage site and admire the unique landscape and its mystic atmosphere.

On your way to Meteora you will be able to see a very big beautiful and big part of the eastern mainland of Greece and learn everything from our guide-archaeologist about its history.

Upon our arrival on Meteora you will be able to visit 3 of the 6 Monasteries, according to their operating schedule.

Let the mesmerizing view above the clouds to take your breath away and capture the dramatic scenery of the rocks lying on the valley of Kalampaka village.

Understand in depth the orthodox Christian art and culture of the monasteries. Enjoy a traditional Greek lunch in Kastraki, near the city of Kalampaka, before heading back to Thessaloniki.

Wear shoes that you would wear on a hiking session and remember to bring some decent clothing for the monasteries too! All of our tour leaders have an archaeological background (studies in history and archaeology) and they will bring you one step closer to the history of the Holly Rocks of Meteora.

  • The coach journey from Athens to Meteora is 5 hours each way, including two short stops along the way to use the restroom and buy snacks.
  • The monasteries have strict dress rules prohibiting entry to male visitors wearing shorts and female visitors with sleeveless sweatshirts
  • Women need a long skirt/ dress to enter the monasteries. Women cannot enter the monasteries wearing trousers or jeans.
  • At winter, the temperature is low so you need to bring suitable clothes. Check the temperature of Meteora online the previous day!
  • To reach the monasteries, you will be required to climb stairs
  • The €3 entrance fee to each monastery is not included in the ticket price, this must be paid in cash
  • You will stop for a traditional Greek lunch in Kastraki, this is not included in the ticket price
  • What to bring: Comfortable shoes, comfortable clothes, cash
  • Not suitable for people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users
